My plan for 2014.

So. We’re back into the New Year, and I’m hitting the ground running at some speed. At the moment I’m editing Birds vs Bastards while waiting for my editor to come back to me with my first editor’s letter for War of Six Crowns: The Heir’s Choice.

While I’m doing this, I’m also busy painting our guest house. Which means that I’m not getting a lot of free hours except when I’m sleeping. Still, I find edits mainly relaxing (she says, dodging rotten tomatoes from jealous people who hate editing), so I’m not complaining.

I’m hoping that once things start calming down, I can start drafting in down times while I wait for editor and crit partner feedback. Because yes. That will be the only way I’ll achieve enough this year. I’ll have to run concurrent projects, resting from one by working on another.

And once they start calming down, I want to kick this blog back into gear by visiting more frequently and getting as involved in this awesome community as I can.

I’m thinking about changing the Paying Forward Awards this year. I’ll definitely keep on doing it, but I think it needs a bit of a change.

There will also be a competition sometime between January and March. Which will actually be about paying forward too. But more on that later.

Also, the Five Year Project (AKA Big Dreams) Bloghop is continuing this year. So if you have a crazy or madly important writing goal/dream and want to join in for some support and accountability, go here.

Lastly, I’m thinking about bringing news features back. But I’ll DEFINITELY have to rethink how I’ll do it.

Yeah… That’s pretty much what’s on my mind for my blog this year. Please feel free to make suggestions! After all, I’m trying to make my blog as awesome as possible for you to visit. πŸ™‚

  1. I'm taking a 2 year sabbatical from writing. My blog is going to stick to homesteading, gardening, cover art, and the occasional post on promotion and marketing because those are the things that interest me.

  2. Keep plugging away editing, planning and writing as you can fit them into everything else, Misha. That's all you can do.

Me? I'm not going to change much with what I do on my blog. Same thing, interviews, commentaries, announcements, posting things I find interesting. Most of my time will be spent getting Soul Forge ready for my publisher in the spring and another novel, the sequel to Relic Tech, or an alien invasion novel, for the fall. Also proofing Relic Tech and Blood Sword's audio files before they're released. Got to fit all that in with editing projects beyond my own novels, being a member of the Village Council, church, teaching (my main source of income), e-course grading…and family–I have a wife and two daughters…oh and my turtles in the basement.

Hoping you have a great year (2014), Misha, and that you surpass your goals!

  3. Best of luck with everything, Misha! I came to the conclusion that this year I must either write on my blog regularly or close it down to alleviate the guilt of not writing on it! I've decided to use it rather than lose it! Happy New Year!

  4. I'm going to stick to the blog schedule I set up in September. The format is much easier for me (having set days for each of my memes) and I think it makes it easier for blog readers to tune in to the kind of posts they enjoy most.

I'm still working on my goals for 2014. Got finish those.

  5. Cheese. Lots of cheese. I decided I was going to cut back on blogging, but then all the awesomeness happening this year is making it WAY impossible. Not fair, right? Here's to simplicity and clarity!

  6. My goals are to blog more regularly, though I'm not sure why I'm doing it. I've also set a challenge for myself to write both a short story and a novel in the mystery/crime genre, both featuring the same character.

  7. Sleep well while you can get it.

As for my blog, my passions have grown and changed over the last year so will my blog. I'm planning to schedule out my writing to allow for some small home improvement projects I've really wanted to do. Best of luck to you in the new year.

  8. Happy New Year, Misha!
A list of fantastic goals for 2014. Enjoy the editing and the painting. I can't wait to find out your plans for revamping your features here, both the Paying it Forward and the News Features are great, and now I'm also intrigued about this upcoming competition. πŸ™‚

  9. Wow, sounds like you've got some awesome things going on here! I'm also the type to have multiple projects running at once, all in different stages. Good luck with all of yours!
