Almost there

Well… I finally got around to editing this weekend, so Parts 9 and 10 of Doorways are out with CPs.

The amazing thing is that 10 is the last part of the book. So I will soon have about six finished editing rounds behind me, three of which would have been with CPs.

Then there will be two more CPs who need to read 10 and then edits are done. Exciting, hey?

I know I’m pretty stoked to be done, although I’m pretty sad too.

This is more than five years’ worth of work that I’m about to take to the next level.

So while I’m looking forward to moving on, the story itself feels like an old friend, even though there will hopefully be three sequels.

But that’s a worry for another day. Now the race is on to see if I’ll finish before the deadline.

How’s your editing/writing/querying going?

  1. Im SO excited and happy for you!!!
Its amazing that you have come so far! Dont give up! The finish line is close!!!

Ill buy your book when its done 🙂

  2. You're working so hard at it that great things will certainly come, Misha. And going back into a story for the seemingly millionth time is definitely like putting on some comfy shoes for me as well.

I'm working on revisions for the 2nd Moonsongs story and hope to have it out to readers in a couple of weeks. 🙂

  3. I am happy for you to be so close to finishing. Hope promotion and marketing goes well for you.
My spouse is re-writing her first novel, it is still in the formative stages.

  4. Hi, Misha,
I find that it takes me ages to get around to writing the final chapter of my books. I wonder if I subconsciously delay writing them because I don't want to say goodbye to the characters.

    Congrats on finishing yours.

  5. Congrats – you are wise to celebrate each stage. I feel like I'm finally making some headway on my current WIP. I've passed the half-way mark now. Whoo-hoo!

    Best of luck to you!

  6. I understand your ambivalent feelings! I'm always excited to finish a draft, but I miss the characters desperately! And, of course, I'm terrified to find out what beta readers think — hoping they will love it as much as I do — while also hoping they'll have some brilliant idea that will help me make it even better!

  7. Six rounds of editing. . . . Doorways must have changed so much since round one. You're in the home stretch now. Finish strong! 🙂

  8. Congratulations, Misha! I'm very happy for you that you're so close to finishing!

My writing/editing is going pretty well, actually — I'd made some September goals, and it's looking like I'm going to make most of them…

  9. Oh how exciting for you Misha. Congrates! I know what you mean about the finishing line and feeling sad about letting it go – it's like a double edged sword.

I'm still getting the beta readers trickling in with their fabulous feedback. The first three were quick, the third even read through it twice (it's over 112'000 words!) so that was way beyond the call of duty.

I just kknow that you will beat your dealine and I, will not. After beta edits, I'll be sending it over to my editor so that will take a chunk of time. But hey, it was only an estimate and I don't have publishers on my back 🙂 X
