Officially, my goals for 2012

Since this is the last Friday of the year, I thought I’d handle the New Year’s admin now. If you want to see how I fared with the 2011 “guidelines”, you’re more than welcome to go check out my other blog, Taking Charge of My Life.

Without further ado, my goals for 2012:

I want to finish Doorways before 30 June.

I will query Doorways on 1 July.

I want to finish the WiP2 rewrite by 30 September.

I want to finish the Don’t Look Back draft by 31 December.

I want to finish at least one draft of the musical libretto by 31 December.

I might want to look at Guardian again.

I want to read more (crit partners’ manuscripts don’t count).

I want to read Shakespeare, Austen and Martin.

Auditions, auditions, auditions.

I want to master at least intermediate cooking.

I want to spend more time designing.

I want to brush up on my French and Mandarin (at least one of the two) and take another language.

I want to take classes in a musical instrument. Either piano or guitar.

I also want to get out more next year. Cabin fever never did suit me.

Since I achieved four goals in 2011, I want to achieve six in 2012.

So that’s me for the year. I hope you enjoyed my blog as much as I enjoyed all of yours.

Before I sign off, I just want to say cheers.

2011 was more than a little bumpy, but your support made it much easier to get through the year. Here’s to 2012. If it’s the last one, know I wouldn’t want to spend it without you. If it isn’t, thank goodness, because then I’ll see you for 2013.

See you on the other side. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  1. You have your plate full for next year. I can only cheer you on and wish you all the best and especially a lot of good health to be able to accomplish all that or at least most of them.

Happy New Year 2012 to you ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. My New Year's Resolution this year is that I shall make no more New Year's Resolutions. ๐Ÿ˜€

I've decided to just take the “Do everything now!” approach. We'll see how it goes.

BTW, I was glad to see you're going to read some Shakespeare. I wish more writers would; they'd be much better for it. Especially if they struggle with metaphor and simile.

  3. Ooo Chandon Sparkling Wine, not the nicest winery to visit (their staff is terribly rude) but they do make a nice dry Brut.

I'll have to bug you once South Africa reaches the international date line. You'll have to tell me what 2012 feels like while I'm still in 2011!!

  4. Best of luck with all your goals, and especially with Doorways. I really like your idea of setting a date like that.

Happy New Year to you, I wish you nothing but the best for 2012! ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. Good luck with your goals, and I think it's great you finished four in 2011, especially since I don't even remember what my goals I guess I need to start a new list.

  6. Your goals are wonderful. Seperated out for writing and life.
I love the French language though I can't speak it.
I wish you the best of luck in accomplishing your goals and will be here blogging away with ya to follow along on your journey.

    Cheers and Happy New Year!

  7. Hey Misha, how are you doing? You managed to accomplish at least four of your goals this year, that's pretty good considering what kind of year it's been, well done.
as far as this coming year is concerned you've set some pretty awesome goals for yourself, I hope you succeed in all endeavours.
May God bless you and all you hold dear now and for the rest of your life, sent in sincerity, Geoff.

  8. I love your goals for the year. I also love the positive statements you make about them: you *want* to achieve this. I think I need to be a little more definite in things I *want* to achieve in my life too.

Good luck with all your goals, and I hope 2012 is a good year for you.

  9. Hey, happy New Year's! May 2012 be truly blessed! Your goals encourage me to write down mine…hmmmmm. Hey any time you want to work on written French, send me an email or we can fb chat…or video for spoken French! Can't help ya for Mandarin ๐Ÿ˜‰ Alors, Joyeux Nouvel An! biz
